Unit 2: Water and rocks

Create mosaics as Romans did

1. Justification: Learning more about the Roman Imperium, through the creation of mosaics

2. Materials: Colored papers, scissors and glue

3. Time scheduled: 2 sessions of 45’

4. Steps: Cut small pieces of colored papers, as it's shown on the image, and feel like a Roman creating geometrical forms. Stick them with glue and be an artist as Romans were with their nice mosaics.

Paint as a cavern man!

 

1. Justification: Painting their own creations like cavern men will help learners to understand prehistoric art. We will also decorate the school corridor with their paintings. 


2. Materials: Color chalks, felt pens and cardboard paper

3. Time scheduled: 2 sessions of 45’

4. Steps: Use the black color to draw the outline of your prehistoric animal, as you can see in the picture. Color it with heat colors. Now you can say you paint like a cavern man!

Act like a Greek

 

1. Justification: Pupils will learn the importance of theatre for Greeks and create their own masks. Additionally, clay is very useful for kids who need to relax and pay attention to details.

2. Materials: Clay, a rolling pin, tempera colors and a knife

3. Time scheduled: 2 sessions of 45’

4. Steps: Use the rolling pin to make a layer of clay. Cut out a mask like the one in the picture. Cut out the eyes and the mouth. Model the nose and color it with tempera colors. Now you have can act with your mask like a greek!
